Dry Docking

USS FREEDOM (LCS-1)

IMS has completed successful dry docking with 17 ships:

Berthing Barges YR-63 , APL-4,  YRDM-5, USCGC Chase (WHEC 718), USCGC Hamilton (WHEC 715), USCGC Ahi (WPB-87364), USS Thach (FFG-43), USS Gary (FFG 51),  Admirals Barge, USS Rentz (FFG 46), and USS Freedom (LCS 1) (twice), USCG Boutwell (WHEC 719), USS Curts (FFG 38), USS Rentz (FFG 46)

IMS provides the full range of dry-dock services for ships and craft and has extensive experience in this area. Dry-dock services are used when the dry-dock is available. Our work in Dry-dock has included steel plating inspection and repair, shafting repair, sea valve inspections, overhaul and replacement, and hull preservation and painting.

Dry Dock Specifications:

  • The dry docking we utilize in San Diego, CA. is the Graving Dock which is fully certified by NAVSEA:
  • Length and width of the floor: 700′ x 104′ and is 42′ deep
  • Rated load of the dock : 33,000 Long Tons
  • Status of Certification IAW SFLC STD 8634: 28 Feb 2014
  • Vessel Limits: 688′ x 90′
  • Navigational Limits leading to the Graving Dock; 30′
  • 10 Basin-well service galleries,
  • 2  Shore power 480V AC/115 AC,
  • 2 1/2 Firemain at 150PSI, 2 CHT risers.

Yard Services include:

  • 440 Volt, 60 amp service (or greater if scheduled and arranged in advance)
  • Fire-main source
  • Waste disposal
  • Bathrooms
  • Storage Boxes
  • Crane service
  • Compressed air
